Troubleshooting

Our Listen Online button links you to a high quality audio stream using MP3 compression. Most people using Windows and who have a broadband connection should find that this works well.

However, we provide several other stream designed for people with slower connections or different operating systems. Please click on one of the alternative streams below:

What does this mean?

MP3 and OGG are types of audio compression. Most people using Windows will find that the MP3 stream is easier to listen to, whilst those using Linux or MacOS may find it easier to listen to the OGG stream.

The numbers indicate the bitrate of the audio stream. The higher the number, the better your connection will need to be in order to hear it. Most people using a broadband connection will find the highest quality “128” stream works very well. If you experience problems listening, and the audio stops and starts, try using the next one down the list. The low quality stream (32 kilobit/sec rate) is recommended for people using a dial-up modem connection, although the sound quality may make it difficult to listen to easily.
